About these Terms
These Terms are an agreement between you and Qtora, the operator of qtora.eu (“Qtora”, “we”, “us”) about your use of the Qtora website and web app at qtora.eu, including when it is installed on your device (the “Service”).
By creating an account, or by joining an event as a guest, you agree to these Terms. Our Privacy Notice explains how we handle personal data. Who we are and how to reach us is set out in section 18.
Who can use Qtora
- You must be 18 or over.
- Qtora is launched for the island of Ireland — the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. If you choose a location elsewhere, you can join our waitlist instead.
- You need a working email address. Use your real name, keep your details accurate, and have one account only.
- You may not use Qtora if we have closed your account for breaking these Terms, unless we agree.
Your account
- Choose a password of at least 8 characters, keep it secret and don’t share your account. You are responsible for what happens under it. If you think someone else has used it, change your password and tell us through our contact form.
- You stay signed in on a device until you sign out or stop using Qtora for a while. Resetting your password signs you out on every device.
- Some features need us to email you — password reset, confirming your email address and joining as a guest — and work only while our email service is available.
- You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Account → Delete account. The Privacy Notice explains what happens to your data.
What Qtora does — and doesn’t do
Qtora helps you connect with people, clubs, communities, gyms and trainers near you, chat once a connection request is accepted, plan an activity in the chat, and play. Members can also create events — open games others can join — and share them by link.
Qtora is a meeting place, not an organiser or a provider of activities. In particular:
- We do not check who people are. We do not verify the identity, age, fitness, qualifications or background of members, organisers, guests, trainers or venues. The verified tick is set by the Qtora team; it is not an identity, background or qualification check.
- We do not run events, plans, clubs, gyms or training sessions. The organiser of an event, the people in a plan, and the club, gym or trainer concerned are responsible for them.
- Listings of clubs, communities, gyms, trainers and sessions are added by the Qtora team — not by members or the businesses — from information we believe to be accurate; details such as opening times can change. A request you send to a listing (“Contact”, “Book”, “Request to join”) goes to the Qtora team, not directly to the business, and is not passed on automatically.
- Qtora is free to use and handles no payments. Any money you agree with another member, an organiser, a club or a trainer is between you and them.
Meeting people and staying safe
Activities — sport in particular — carry a risk of injury, and meeting people you don’t know carries its own risks. You take part at your own risk and are responsible for your own decisions, including whether you are fit enough to take part. Meet in public places, tell someone where you are going, and leave if you feel unsafe. If someone behaves badly, report and block them in the app, and call the emergency services on 999 or 112 if anyone is in danger.
Events
- Publishing. Events go live as soon as they are published; we don’t review them first. Each member can have up to five open upcoming events at a time.
- Organisers must describe the event honestly (activity, time, venue, number of places, skill level), keep the details up to date, and cancel promptly if it won’t go ahead. Organisers can invite people, remove players, close registrations, edit and cancel their events; the people affected are notified. The organiser takes one of the places.
- Joining. Joining is instant while there are places. When an event is full you join the waitlist and move up automatically, in order, when a place frees up. If you can no longer go, leave the event so the next person gets your place.
- Event pages are public. Anyone with the link can see the event, and it can be shared through messaging apps and social networks. The Privacy Notice explains which attendee details are shown.
- Joining as a guest. You can take a place with your name and email and no account: we email you a link that confirms your place (it works once, for 24 hours) and a second link to view or cancel it. By joining as a guest you agree to these Terms for that event.
- We may edit, close, cancel or remove any event that breaks these Terms or looks unsafe.
Connections, messages and plans
You can message someone once they accept your connection request. Either of you can remove the connection or block the other at any time; the conversation then becomes read-only. A plan proposed in a chat is confirmed only when the other person accepts it. Calendar files are a convenience — check the time in the app.
Rules for everyone
You must not use Qtora to:
- harass, threaten, bully, stalk or intimidate anyone, or post anything hateful, discriminatory, sexually explicit or violent;
- impersonate anyone, or misrepresent who you are, your age, or your connection to a club or business;
- create fake, misleading or spam events, plans, requests or messages;
- advertise or sell, or collect people’s details for marketing, without our written permission;
- share someone else’s personal information without their permission;
- involve anyone under 18, or arrange anything illegal or dangerous;
- copy or scrape the Service or other members’ information, use bots or automated access, or get around our rate limits, security or blocks;
- interfere with the Service, or upload anything harmful such as malware;
- break the law, or encourage anyone else to.
Your content
You keep ownership of what you post — your profile, messages, events, plans and reports. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display, copy and transmit it as needed to run, secure and improve the Service — for example to show your event to people nearby, and in link previews when it is shared. You confirm you have the right to post it.
If you delete your account, content that is part of conversations, events or plans with other people may remain visible to them; the Privacy Notice explains what we keep and how to ask for erasure.
Reports, moderation and enforcement
- You can report a person, a conversation, a message, a listing or a plan, and block anyone.
- Our team reviews reports. To investigate a reported conversation, authorised staff can read it, and every such view is logged. Staff do not otherwise read private conversations.
- If we believe someone has broken these Terms or put others at risk, we may warn them, remove or disable content (including events, plans, connections and conversations), or suspend, block or close their account — without notice where safety requires it.
- If you think we got a decision about you or your content wrong, tell us through our contact form and we will look at it again.
- We may contact the authorities where the law requires it or someone may be in danger.
Emails and notifications
We send the emails needed to run your account and keep it secure — password reset, confirming your email address and security notices — and these cannot be switched off. Emails about activity (connection requests, unread messages, event and plan updates, reminders) can each be switched off in Settings → Notifications.
Changes and availability
We keep improving Qtora and may add, change or remove features. We try to keep the Service available but cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free; the installed app may show a saved copy of a page while you are offline. If we decide to stop providing the Service, we will give members reasonable notice where we can.
Other services
Qtora links to, and loads some parts from, other services — for example maps, directions, fonts and sharing to messaging apps. Their own terms apply to your use of them, and we are not responsible for them.
Ending your use of Qtora
You can stop using Qtora and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close your account as described in section 10, or if we stop providing the Service. Sections 9, 15 and 16 continue to apply after your account ends.
Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that the law does not allow us to exclude or limit, and nothing in them affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
Subject to that:
- Qtora is a free service provided “as is”. We take reasonable care in running it, but we do not promise that it will always be available or error-free, or that information on it — including listings — is complete and up to date.
- We are not responsible for the conduct of members, organisers, guests, clubs, gyms or trainers, or for activities arranged through Qtora, except where loss or damage is caused by our own breach of these Terms or our negligence.
- We are not responsible for loss or damage that was not reasonably foreseeable, or for business losses: Qtora is for personal, non-commercial use.
Law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Ireland. If a dispute arises, please contact us first — most things can be sorted out quickly. If you are a consumer you may bring proceedings in the courts of Ireland; if you live in Northern Ireland, you may also bring them in the courts of Northern Ireland, and you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws where you live.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If a change is significant, we will tell you before it takes effect — by a notice in the app or by email. If you keep using Qtora after that, the updated Terms apply; if you don’t agree with them, you can delete your account. The date at the top shows the current version.
